FAQ’s

Below are common questions we get, if you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

  • There are several reasons why seeing a physical therapist directly can be beneficial:

    1. Expertise in musculoskeletal conditions: Physical therapists are highly trained healthcare professionals who specialize in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. They have a deep understanding of how the body moves and functions, and they are skilled in identifying and addressing the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction.

    2. Conservative approach: Physical therapists often take a conservative approach to treatment, focusing on non-invasive and non-surgical interventions. They utilize a variety of techniques such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and patient education to promote healing, reduce pain, and restore function. Starting with physical therapy can help you avoid unnecessary medications or invasive procedures.

    3. Individualized treatment plans: Physical therapists develop personalized treatment plans based on your specific needs, goals, and abilities. They consider your unique circumstances, including your lifestyle, activity level, and any pre-existing conditions, to create a plan that is tailored to you. This individualized approach can lead to more effective and targeted treatment.

    4. Rehabilitation and functional improvement: Physical therapists are experts in rehabilitation and functional improvement. They not only focus on relieving pain but also on restoring mobility, strength, flexibility, and function. They can guide you through a progressive rehabilitation program to help you regain your physical abilities and return to your desired activities or sports.

    5. Injury prevention and education: Physical therapists place a strong emphasis on injury prevention and patient education. They can teach you proper body mechanics, ergonomic principles, and techniques to reduce the risk of future injuries. By addressing underlying imbalances or weaknesses, they help you develop strategies to prevent recurrent problems and maintain long-term health.

    6. Direct access and convenience: In Wisconsin, direct access to physical therapy is allowed, meaning you can see a physical therapist without a referral from a doctor. This can save you time and streamline the process of getting care for your injury or pain.

It's important to note that physical therapists work closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals. If your condition requires further medical evaluation or intervention, a physical therapist can refer you to the appropriate specialist. They will also collaborate with your doctor to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.

  • For the vast majority of patients, a referral is not needed! Give us a call and we can help you get scheduled without needing to see another provider first.

  • We are in the process of contracting with all of the major insurance carriers in Central Wisconsin. Please give us a call or send us a message and we can help answer any insurance related questions you may have!

  • Some insurances do not provide adequate reimbursement to cover today’s cost of delivering high quality up to date care, or they may feel they have adequate coverage for their patients in this geographic area. We offer a discounted pay up front “Cash” fee schedule where the client and provider are better able to determine the optimum plan of care for the individual without the insurance company’s restrictions. We then provide you with the needed documentation and paperwork to submit your expense to your insurance company to seek reimbursement if you so choose. In many cases our clients are able to receive more care for their dollar than if they were to go through the traditional insurance model. Clients also are better able to dictate how often they would like to attend therapy.

  • Every patient has the right to see any physical therapists they desire! While your doctor or medical provider may suggest certain therapists, it is ultimately your choice on who you want to see.

  • No, you have the freedom to choose any physical therapist you prefer. While your provider may suggest a physical therapist within their system, you are not required to go there. At Pinnacle PT, we work closely with your referring provider and ensure open communication to provide you with the best care possible.
